Mario Ricci is a multi-faceted artist, illustrator, and art director. A 1984 graduate of the Ontario College of Art, he studied painting under Franklin Arbuckle, Mario Palmadori, Peter Mah, and others before pursuing a successful career in the advertising industry.
Working at a number of top tier agencies he garnered dozens of industry accolades including a coveted New York One Show award. In his early 30s he was introduced to the natural beauty of Algonquin Park. For someone born and raised in suburban Toronto, Algonquin was a revelation and within a few years he had purchased a lakeside property in the Haliburton region.
The countryside around his cottage has been renewing and inspiring him ever since. Though still active in advertising, in recent years Ricci has devoted increasing amounts of time to his landscape and portrait painting. Working with oils, he layers his colours to achieve a luminous depth.
He has exhibited at various venues around Toronto including the Arts and Letters Club.
